Steve is Muddles at the New Theatre Cardiff and the reviews are in...
Wales247I am ashamed to say, until last night, I’ve never actually seen comedy ventriloquist, BGT semi-finalist Steve Hewlett before. But oh boy did he deliver a lesson on both in his role as Muddles in Snow White. Steve from start to finish genuinely connected with the audience and had everyone eating out of the palm of his hand – I’m sure there is probably a ventriloquist joke there somewhere! He schooled the audience on ventriloquism 101… quite literally and his audience participation skit raised the roof with laughter. I won’t say what it is, but oh my, you are in for a treat. Its On CardiffA stand out star of the show for us was definitely BGT’s Steve Hewlett as muddles, he was so talented and his individual performances throughout the show, used to break up set change-overs had the whole family mesmerised.Wales OnlineThe show is arguably stolen by the brilliant comedy ventriloquist Steve Hewlett, who plays court jester Muddles, and his accomplice Arthur. His quick-witted and at points improvised turns were an absolute delight and he fully justified getting plenty of stage time with the production as a whole really making the best of the individual attributes of each performer – not to mention Ian ‘H’ Watkins gamely embracing his role as the butt of a very high proportion of the jokes in the script.

Steve Hewlett as Smee in Peter Pan at The Chrysalis in Milton Keynes
by Jasmine StormMr Smee played by Steve Hewlett and he was hilarious. Steve is a veteran on stage and his gentle manner is juxtaposition with his grandpa puppet who is a bit ‘in your face’. This makes us love Steve all the more. Steve was forth in Britain’s Got Talent a few years back and it is very clear that Steve has talent. Ventriloquism is a skill, but when you add in the on-going jokes about one good hand and how he can’t go anywhere without grandpa it takes it to another level.Photo by Jane Russell Photography
Steve Hewlett & Arthur Lager as the Smee's in Neverland 2021 Christmas Review
Alan Wooding, MKCitizenEqually talented is Steve Hewlett, a former Britain’s Got Talent finalist. Ventriloquist Steve plays an authentic Mr Smee and is accompanied by his trusty sidekick and his right-hand-man, puppet Arthur Lager, whose quips and one-liners made him a hilarious Grandad Smee. Steve was also great with young children from the audience in the traditional 'Old MacDonald' sequence shortly before the finale, while he also got the audience shouting out whenever he appeared.Photo by Jane Russell Photography
A Tribute to the Real Stand Up
Paul Eastwood was one of the finest and naughtiest comics I knew. If I was Keith Harris, he would be Jim Davidson. We followed the same path from Talent Shows, Holiday Parks, to Comedy Clubs, Cruise Ships, Corporate, Television, The Cromer Pier & the Thursford Spectacular Shows as their headliner or host.Paul sadly lost his life in July 2021 which shook the comedy cabaret world and this show is a Tribute to the man and the mic. Please support if you can
